Pocket Reduction Surgery

Periodontal disease can cause pockets to form between the teeth and gums, which can lead to bone deterioration and tooth loss if left untreated. Pocket reduction surgery is a procedure that is designed to reduce the depth of these pockets and improve the health of the gums.

During the procedure, our periodontist will meticulously remove bacteria, plaque, and tartar from the pockets. We may also place antibiotics to encourage continued healing beneath the gum line. Once the area is completely clean, we will then suture the gums back in place to reduce the depth of the pockets.

Crown Lengthening

Crown lengthening is a surgical procedure that involves removing excess gum tissue and sometimes bone from around a tooth to expose more of the tooth’s structure. This procedure is often used to prepare a tooth for a dental restoration, but it can also be used for hygienic reasons by removing extra tissue and allowing easier access for oral hygiene practices. Crown lengthening can also be done for cosmetic purposes, such as to reduce the appearance of a gummy smile and establish a consistent balance between the teeth and gums.

Soft Tissue Grafts

Gum recession is a common problem that can be caused by periodontal disease, brushing too aggressively, or other factors. Soft tissue grafts are performed to restore the gum tissue that has been lost.

During the procedure, our periodontist will take tissue from another part of your mouth (or use synthetic tissue) and graft it onto the area where the gums have receded. Soft tissue grafts can help improve the appearance of your smile, reduce tooth sensitivity, and protect your teeth from damage.

Guided Bone Regeneration

Bone loss is a common problem that can be caused by periodontal disease, trauma, or other factors. Guided bone regeneration is a procedure that is used to replenish lost bone in the jaw.

During the procedure, we will place a special membrane and bone grafting material into the area where the bone has been lost, which will encourage the growth of new bone.

Ridge Preservation

Ridge preservation is a procedure that is performed after a tooth has been extracted in order to help preserve the shape and structure of the jawbone. This procedure involves placing a bone graft material into the socket of the extracted tooth, which helps stimulate new bone growth and prevent the bone from deteriorating. Ridge preservation can help prevent the need for more extensive bone grafting procedures in the future.

CBCT Scanner

We utilize a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanner in our office, which provides detailed 3D images of your teeth, gums, and jawbone. This technology allows us to more accurately diagnose and plan treatment for a wide range of periodontal conditions, including gum disease, bone loss, and dental implant placement. CBCT scanning is safe, quick, and non-invasive, and can help improve the accuracy and success of your treatment.
