Dr. Kenneth Tang

Periodontist

Educational Journey & Research Foundations
Dr. Kenneth Tang’s journey into dentistry began with a strong commitment to patient care. While studying biomedical engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University, he volunteered at VCU Medical Center’s Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, where he provided comfort and support to patients during recovery. This early exposure shaped his philosophy of combining science and compassion in healthcare.

He went on to earn a Master of Science in biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University, where he conducted research on novel therapeutic delivery systems aimed at improving treatment options for diabetes, a chronic disease affecting millions worldwide. This work deepened his understanding of how scientific innovation can improve patients’ lives.

Dr. Tang then completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) at Temple University, followed by advanced specialty training in periodontics, where he served as both chief resident and resident representative. These leadership roles, combined with his academic and clinical training, gave him a deep appreciation for clinical excellence, patient advocacy, and advancing education—values that continue to define his practice today.

Clinical Expertise & Specializations
Dr. Tang’s expertise spans the full scope of periodontal therapy. He practices the full scope of periodontal treatment, including non-surgical therapy such as scaling and root planing, to surgical treatments, including extraction and bone grafting, osseous resective therapy, guided tissue regeneration, guided bone regeneration, minimally invasive soft tissue augmentation (tunnel and traditional), and digital implementation in implant dentistry for single, multi-unit, and full-arch implant placement.

A hallmark of Dr. Tang’s philosophy is his dedication to preserving natural dentition whenever possible. He emphasizes prevention, regenerative therapies, and meticulous surgical technique to help patients maintain their own teeth. When replacement becomes necessary, he applies the same precision and evidence-based approach to achieve esthetic, functional, and durable implant outcomes.

His engineering background enhances his precision in biomechanics, implant placement, and digital treatment planning, while his research training ensures every decision is grounded in scientific rigor. Proficient in CBCT imaging, 3D-guided surgery, and regenerative protocols, Dr. Tang delivers care that is technologically advanced yet highly personalized.
